Objectives

This book is not intended to be a manual providing ready-to-use solutions. It is a compilation of interesting ideas, facts and practical examples the editors have discovered in Europe and partly in other continents. Many publications or reports of interest to farmers and their organisations are often unknown or not available because they have either not been published or have been published in a foreign language or in a regional journal. Many have been published as scientifi c papers with interesting content that is, however, not easily applicable in practice. If this book can provide useful information and even stimulate the interested readers to apply certain ideas on the farm – then we have reached the main objectives of this document.
